I just used dvd2avi to acquire a d2v and a wav file. Before I use tmpgenc, I want to know if there is any way I can burn the entire movie on a 700MB/80Min CD-RW media instead of cutting it up into two parts and burning those on 2 cd's. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps.

  4. You can do it in TMPEGEnc.

When you launch the application, just cancel the wizard. Then in the bottom right hand corner, click Load. YOu will see all the formats like NTSC SVCD, or PAL VCD etc. Just double click on the unopened folder among this list. There will be a file called 'unlock' - double click on this. This basically unlocks all the default settings that are normally greyed out, so you can alter any setting you want.

    Exit out of here.

Now, when you go to encode your movie, simply decrease the VIDEO bit-rate until it fits onto the size disk you want to burn to. Just note, the less the bit-rate, the more you sacrifice picture quality, so look at the encoded file before you burn to see if it's of an acceptable quality. Hope this helps.

Hey, did you notice the link I gave him was to the guide shows how to use TMPGEnc to put a movie on one CD? Besides, if he does use your way, how will he know when the bitrate is low enough to allow his file to fit on one disk? There is nothing in your post that tells him how to do that.

Thanks, what ill probably do is I'll encode five to ten minutes to test it out and figure out the correct bitrate...thanks again for all your help.

the 1 doc explains step by step in detail, the zip is what you might need to stop vdub reporting errors

Not to belabor the point but to provide accuracy and completness.
Yes he can tell exactly what the bit rate will be. It is the next to last screen when using the wizard. You have the option of setting the bitrate and you live with the resulting file size. Or, you can specify the size (aka 797Mb) but you have to live with the resutling bitrate. Remember in both cases the other parameters were held constant. I think the latter was the original posters desired goal or question.
And both of these are settable on the next to last screen of the wizard within TmpGenC.
