Hello,
I have a DVD player that plays raw mpg files. Even MPEG files with XSVCD settings. Now I also have a DVD+R burner. The player also plays normal copied DVD's to DVD+R. The player even has MaxiCD support (OneFirmwareForAll).
So I wanted to burn some MPG files to a DVD+R so 4 movies would fit on 1 disc. It works and I can indeed select the movie I want.... as long as it's a mpeg1 file.
When it becomes MPEG2-XSVCD suddenly the player won't play it. While the exact same (RAW-MPG) file burned to CDR does play.
Anyone any idea what might be causing the problem.

Many players that will play SVCD/XVCD just fine on a regular CD-Rom will not play them if they are burned on a DVDr. As soon as they detect a DVDr they expect that the data will be in DVD format (ie AUDIO_TS, VIDEO_TS etc).
There are some apps and processes that allow you to take SVCD files and burn them without converting them in DVD format. DVD-lab has some of these capabilities, as do some others. There is also a good sticky thread on this issue with some other options at the top of this forum.

As I wrote in the first line;
MY PLAYER PLAYS RAW MPEG FILES ON DVD+R normally....
I have a Apex600 with a firmware (OneFirmwareForAll) that makes this possible.
That's why it plays the VCD files without problem burned as MPEG on DVD+R. The problem only appears when it's XSVCD MPEG (720x576 @ 2300 VBR)!
I made a DVD+R disc containing 6 files. 2 are standard VCD, 4 are XSVCD. The first 2 are played perfectly. the later 4 don't. While those same files play without problem from CDR.
But (again) my player is able to play RAW MPEG files !!!There R 3 sides on every story;
