  1. Glory!

I have a 576 X 240 video .. it's telesync quality in divX format.. basically extemely wide and short on height.
Usual Pal VCD uses 352 X 288 res.. and i normally use TMPGEnc.

The problem is, using tmpgenc to convert this format into a pal vcd res.. obviously, the width is being squeezed way too much while height increasing very slightly, thus giving extremely long faces and out of proportion content.

The divX is in 2.40:1 ratio.. if i maintain this ratio and add letterbox (top & bottom black mask color) that we usually see in movies.. it gets too short in height on screen, almost like a little tape running through the screen.. not good.

What else is a possibility? Anyone has had any experience with this?

In TMPGEnc -> MPEG Settings -> Advanced -> Video arrange method select: Full screen (keep aspect ratio). That will automaticly keep aspect ratio (add letter boxes).
Then use Clip frame. With that you can cut side parts of movie picture and because of "Full screen (keep aspect ratio)" picture will be bigger... Done!
[Do not try to get fullscreen picture - you will lose too much of picture and will not see important things...]
