Best Buy has all Imation DVD and CD media 40% off.

    Big deal.

The Imation DVD-R discs I got were Ritek G03 1x discs, not 2x discs like the store's info shows on that product. Took them back for a refund.

The discs are fine if you want 1x, but $65 for a 50-pack is too expensive.

Just a warning to all those that may be considering that purchase.

I really like the Ritek G03 disks. They burn very well at 2x in my Sony DRU-500A and my Optorite DD0203. They play back very well in all 4 of my settop players, and several relatives for whom I burn home movies have also reported excellent results with the Ritek media. However, after tax, this comes out to $1.41 per disk, far too much for a 2x disk.

I recently purchased some Princo 4x DVD-R media from Rima, who claimed on their site that the disks would burn at 4x on the Sony DRU-500a. Well, they only burn at 2x in my sony and my optorite drives. And in one of my settop players (Cyberhome 402), the disks never get recognized. And one of my relatives has reported similar problems on a Norcent settop player.

I really wish I could still purchase the Ritek G03 for 97 cents apiece.

yeah, my panasonic settop has problem reading the princo 4x (2x with DRU500A) every now and then (skips), while it works 100% ok with the 1x ones. go figure.

    Never saw the CC one.

The Target one was not in my area

Too late now. Placed an order online. Stupid stores. As much as people bash online media sales sites, I have twice as many complaints for the retail stores. They don't even know what they carry.

  9. I don't understand this deal seems really good to me. I picked up a 50 pack of 2X dvd-r's (they also had dvd+r's for the same price) for $59.00. That is $1.18 per disc. I tested a few with my nd-1300a and they have all worked flawlessly.

Just picked up some of these Imation DVD-Rs, they are indeed Ritek G03s, which is just fine by me. Its a pretty good deal for picking up G03s locally. Little over a dollar each.

That deal has been over for at least 2 days now. The price is back to $189 on the website, and before that they were out of stock for days and not taking preorders.

I'm so use to buying name-brand CD-R media in 100ct for $10 that buying 100ct DVD-R (name brande or otherwise) for >$100 sends a shiver down my spine.
