I want to purchase a Standalone DVDR, i brought one the other day, Philips DVDR890 but was faulty and i returned it and am now thinking about buying the later model called the Philips DVDR80, can anyone tell me if i am making the right choice, and what are the benefits compared to DVDR890. Thanks

The DVDR80 includes features not found on the DVDR890 such as electronic program guide, IR blaster, disc manager, etc.

Unfortunately, Philips (or Gemstar) is having problems implementing the Guide+ on the DVDR80 so the European version has been delayed til September (if I remember right).

So unless you can't wait til September, get the DVDR80 when it comes out.
