  1. I am sorry for posting this type of question here, it doesnt really have to do with (s)vcd.

    What I would like:

    Play DVD's perfectly
    Play CDR's no problem
    Play VCD
    And have some cool features.

    Can anyone make a reccomendation.

    Thanks

  2. Check the DVD Players link to your left or go here http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php

or take my advice. The Pioneer DV333. I saw it for 170 at a local Electronics shop. I think mine is the best DVD player I have ever seen (for under 200 dollars)

If you want cheap go Apex but be warned they can be a hell of a lot of trouble.

  3. I would recommend the Pioneer 434 or the Hitachi 415U. They both play everything on your list, the Hitachi also plays MP3s. IIRC neither will play miniDVD/cDVD thou.

Both are ~$180 retail. Although Costco has had the 434 in stock for ~$160 for a while now.

  5. Hitachi 415U beats all other brand name DVD players (Panasonic, Pioneer, JVC, ....) in reading high bitrate discs and no issues with any CD-R/RW plus MP3 decode. No Macrovision and Region hack though. Highly recommended if you are not into hacking.

Another vote for the Pioneer DV-434. (or Pioneer DV-343) An outstanding player and has highest quality playback of DVD, VCD, SVCD, SxVCD, etc. discs that I've seen in a consumer-grade DVD player. And certainly a bargain at $160 that Costco is selling it for.

Steer clear of the Apex line. The quality of their playback of any disc type is very poor.
