Ken Burns Effect

I need a Windows Compatible application to do the Mac Ken Burns Effect [pan and zoom]. Does anyone have a suggestion that is easy to use and not expensive. I am currently using Ulead 6 as my editor.

If you have Windows XP download Windows Movie Maker 2 it has a pan and zoom effect. Mcrosoft Plus Digital Media Edition has a better pan and zoom effect. It allows you to choose where to start and where to end on the photo, But it is only compatable with XP. It is 20.00 I have seen it on sale for 14.99.

I have Vegas 4.0 and yes, it does this quite easily. Thats the upside.

Downside is it leaves digital artifacts if the opjetcs are in motion and you have a high contrast.

Example, someone walking across the screen(close up say 8 ft) and they are wear a white shirt or black jacket. Looks like jagged edges. Have not found a way around this....For objects in HIGH motion, it is not recommended.

Thanks for the reply. I went out and got the Mcrosoft Plus Digital Media Edition for 20 bucks and it does OK on the pan and zoom.

But, I have two problems:

1. The pan is only cusomizable from about 6 locations and zoom is only 2 ways. So I can not take a team photo and zoom in one person.

2. It only saves the files in wmp files and my ulead won't read that extension. I will work on this part, but if anyone can save me some time please do.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Your Ulead what? If you are using Media Studio Pro it can do pan and zoom using moving paths...

Have your results been clean with the Moving Path feature in Media Studio ? Im also interested. I already have Media Studio 7 but never messed with the moving path options yet.

I have Ulead Video Studio 6, it came with my ATI all in wonder card.

Canopus Imaginate does nice pan, zoom, and rotate on photos. You can also change the perspective. But, I'd call it expensive - unless you needed it a lot for future projects to justify the cost.

The up side is it is made only for that purpose so it's very easy to use. You just drag around, use sliders and a "camera" control wheel. The combinations are pretty much unlimited.

Besides expense, the other downside is it makes one clip (avi or DV) for each photo, so you'd then need to link them together in your video editor - Ulead VS7 or another.

I searched for ages for a prog that could do this and the only others I found were just as expensive or part of a more expensive video editing suite. So I bit the bullet, knowing I would be using for many future projects.

I was hoping to stay in the <50 range. It upsets me that it is included in the MAC software. I guess you have to pay to play.
