Believe that! Better Recongnize!![]()
I said before the series the Marlins in 6..and that's exactly what happened. The biggest upset from beginning to end in BASEBALL PLAYOFF HISTORY.....talk about AMAZING.....the city is jump..jump...JUMPIN'.....some teams NEVER win a SINGLE championship in as much as 100 years....we got 2 CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 11 YEARS.....that's handlin' business!
FLORIDA MARLINS 1997 & 2003 WORLD CHAMPIONS!
UNREAL...... :P

Take that Yankees.
What an upset...quite possibly one of the most satisfying games I've seen in a long time. -
Toronto got 2 CHAMPIONSHIPS 2 years in a row ...

@ BJ_M ..are you talking about the Blue Jays? I think you are....i'm not familiar with their history..i'm sure I can look it up on Google...but when I said 2 championships for the Marlins in 11 years..I actually meant in 11 years of "EXISTENCE." The Marlins have actually now won TWO championships in SIX YEARS. And as I said..I can reel off a ton of names of teams who have NEVER even played in a World Series..let alone WON one.
Think about how amazing it is..some teams haven't won a world series in damn near a century....but the Marlins...in existence for a little more then a decade..have already won TWO. I'm pretty sure Toronto can't say that. And as far as money goes....well..that theory doesn't hold true here. The Marlins have one of the LOWEST payrolls in ALL OF MLB BASEBALL at about 50 Million. The Yankees are triple that. That's what makes this championship so much more amazing then the one in 97'. In 97' Huizenga broke apart the team after he BOUGHT AND BROUGHT in players.
That's why i'll agree with you for the most part on the payroll of MLB teams in relation to championships. That's one reason that i've never really liked baseball. I never even used to play baseball for fun...because i was never really interested in it..it's a very boring sport as far as i'm concerned..but you'd have to be damn near dead with no pulse to not get pumped after watching a team like that bust their ass with HEART and not the BIG DOLLARS like teams such as the Yankees.
IN other sports you have salary cap and free agency such as the NFL for example. Take this year..not a SINGLE TEAM that was a division leader from last year is in FIRST Place this year. Not a SINGLE TEAM...that's almost impossible to believe. It just goes to show that there is so much parity that any year it can be any given teams year. You could have a losing record like the Kansas City Chiefs of Last year..but be the ONLY undefeated team at 8-0 this year. Same thing with the Rams a few years ago..the Patriots a couple of years ago..and the Ravens a few years ago. Those were teams that NEVER would be considered at the beginning of the year as a team to have the slightest shot in winning a SuperBowl. Yet..they made history and won it.
But yea..in baseball MORE TIMES then not...you can "BUY" your team...but the Yankees history is slowly but surely getting more and more tainted...losing a seventh game to the Diamondbacks in the Word Series a few years ago..and now losing AT HOME..in the SO CALLED " HOUSE THAT RUTH BUILT" ...getting their asses WHIPPED by a team making PEANUTS compared to them. I love it.....hahaaaaa -
some players make way to much money and the end will come for most major teams ... fox lost a ton of money on this season - even including the playoff , it is likely they will not renew ////
toronto blue jays were formed in 1977 and won back to back world series in 92 and 93 and were in the playoffs in 89 and 91 also ..
now -- not doing so hot this year ..."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -

Bottom line...if someone is gonna offer you that kind of money LEGALLY...there are very few people who will decline it.
As far as the Blue Jays go....that was impressive that they won within 14-15 years...TWO titles...as I said..some teams have NEVER won a title...so regardless of the money put out to the players on that team in those years...they still got the job done and are still down in History. But talk about interesting...ESPN had a graphic this morning showing that the Marlins are ONLY the 4th team in ANY of the MAJOR sports to win 2 Championships within' 11 years of expansion. No team has EVER done it in MLB baseball...and I pretty much figured that..that's why I wrote it...no team came to mind...so I figured maybe the Yanks did it way back when...but I wasn't sure. ONLY 3 other teams in ANY sport have done it faster...that's pretty damn impressive regardless of anything else.
Not to mention that, once again..the Marlins were one of the LOWEST payroll teams in the league.....in Baseball that's just not common. Dollars on the roster usually dicatates where a team will finish..but not this year.....it goes to show that with serious heart you can still do it without all the highly paid players...even in baseball.
Regardless of what happens to the Marlins from this point on....they are down in History as one of the most amazing teams ever.....this was a team that noone even thought had a chance at the playoffs.....and they beat arguabley the top 3 teams in the league in the Giants, the Cubs, and the Yanks. That's as close to miraculous as it gets. -
defense - yes , teams fault , not players for sure ...
Marlins are great -- must be some major spirt .. and as you say , you dont need the biggest payroll (or even in the top 60% ...)"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650)
