QPS DVD+RW

I have seen an external DVD+RW Firewire drive at Circuit city for $119, looking around, it seems that some of the earlier DVD+RW drives do not write DVD+R discs...

My quiestions are:

1. Is it true, that Early DVD+RW do not write DVD+R
2. Is there a way I can tell before I purchase.


the model number is QDPRW2RF (I think)

the QPS website was a waste of bandwidth

thanks dood looks like it is not gonna do the +r, is there a way to maybe "force" it to do so?

I mean for $119, if could get it working would be a great buy

If it is a first gen +RW drive, no degree of "forcing" is going to make it write to +R discs.
