I have a Sony TRV22 Digital Camcorder, which I am capturing via firewire to a P4 PC. I have a number of pieces of software that can capture the AVI from the camcorder: Ulead Movie Factory, SF Video Factory, Sonic MyDVD, etc.
Does it really mater what software I use? I will be making DVD movies to play on a big screen TV, so I want the best quality. I understand that encoding AVI to MPEG does make a quality difference, but what about the capture software?
Thanks.
Maynard

Since you're using firewire, software for transferring the video from camcorder to PC is irrelevant. They would only matter if you want to do some editing on the video (where one software would offer more than the other).
