  1. Im just curious as to when DVD-r DISC's prices will fall dramaticly just like CD-rs did. Do we have to wait till some new and better hardware arrives till that time comes? only reason being is DVD-r discs like it or not are very expensive a 50 pack of dvd-rs can cost about the same as a dvd-writer which is ridlicoulous.

    Anway im done ranting.

  3. As I see it they already have fallen to the same price....

Per megabyte they seem about equal in price for brand name media.

4.7 gigabyte DVD = approx 8 blank CD media depending on what size Cd blank you buy.

    @ $1.89 per disk 4X Brand name I don't think it's that bad.

a spindle of 100 DVD = cost of cheap DVD burner
    a spindle of 100 CD-R = cost of cheap CD-RW burner

And Don't start swearing by mentioning the R word (rebate), that many buyers buy based upon after price and never send in.

    Cheers

Office Max has pissed me off for the last time. Store ran out of advertised spindle and manager used a substitute spindle and the rebate center refused it.

Never again...I'm done with the rebates on cd's.

Go back to the store. One of the two HAS to give you the rebate, otherwise it's false advertising. Generally isn't a problem to get the money back, it's part of doing business, and the costs of a successful false advertising case are high in comparison. Just do not take no as an answer for this, anyone representing the store saying it's ok puts all the liability on the store if the RC refuses..

The way I see is that it has gotten cheaper than VHS (Some brands). And this is supposed to be what it's replacing. You can record just as much on a DVD-R as you can a VHS tape. DVD-R will look better than VHS at 2 to 3 HR rate, but 4-6 HR Rate is not too great. So, I think it has reached a reasonable goal in terms of price. When Stores like Samsclub, Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart, and SEARS are carrying DVD-R and DVD Recorders, you know it has become successful. I noticed a Panasonic and Philips DVD Recorder at Target today.

  7. Office Max here would live up to supporting the rebate, almost had to go after them for one, they said wait another week if it doens't show come on in. IT showed. I've got over 30 50pk spindles, all rebates were recieved except one, Sears, I should've of known hen the reciept which usually has the rebate center phone number was 000-000-0000.
