I was doing some resaerch on the Panasonic home DVD recorders that record on DVD-RAM discs and it appears that these may be the best to use for editing on a PC. The DVD-RAM video files can be read by Movie Factory 2.
I had two questions:
1. Can DVD+RW or +R video be brought into a computer the same as DVD-RAM?
2. Does anyone know of an easy way to import DVD video into Adobe Premier or Avid Xpress?
Thanks!

I have the Panasonic E-20 and the DVD Ram video files can be read by Media Player and PowerDVD 4.0 without problem !

your dvd rom drive might not be able to read dvd-ram. dvd-ram discs are usually used for storage and backup puposes and sometimes come in a case like a floppy disc for some drives. They are generally not supported by most dvd players and dvd roms. I don't know why companys make standalone dvd recorders write dvd-rams. It's stupid; They should fire the person who came up with that idea.

Actually, there are so many consumer/professional DVD-RAM recording devices being sold today that it's a good idea - when shopping - to buy devices that include support for it...
1. Toshiba RD-X2:

2. Panasonic's VDR-M30 DVD disc camcorder:

3. Samsung's DVD-R3000 stand alone player/recorder:

4. Hitachi's pro camcorder:

I find it odd that there are more DVD-RAM standalone recorders and camcorders to choose from than DVD-RW standalone recorders and camcorders when DVD-RW was created for video.
