  3. Highest quality means lossless. Uncompressed is lossless, so is HuffYUV. Can't believe you couldn't find it. It's everywhere. Just google it.

    oops..

But, don't forget, that the "highest quality" you can obtain in an encode
    will reflect YOUR source.

If your source is noisy, the highest quality you will get, will be including
the noise.. not inluding any "filtering", because that would mean you would
loose the "highest quality" mark. ..unless you mean "highest quality"
    AFTER
the filtering. Well, you get the picture.

Now, the highest quality you can get will be dependant upon HOW you
obtain your source. Lets assume you are "capturing"
Then, about the highest quality you can get will be based on how you setup
    but you would capture as:

    * highest resolution (usually means 720x480)
    * uncompressed capture w/out any codecs (huge hd needed)
    * no filtering
    * optional, as a final - no frameloss or synching issues

    HuffyUV lossless?
Well, the jury's still out on that one.

RAW "uncompressed" data is "uncompressed", and "uncompressed" is the best, although by it's very nature, any kind of digitizing of anything is compression to some degree and mutation of the content in some form.

Your original whatever-it-is will be the most perfect. Copies always lose something, although you may or many not see it. Our job is to make sure the loss is minimal.

MPEG2 is pretty high quality at max settings, as is HDTV. But even then, they all have drawbacks.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.
