  1. I recently began hearing things about the new format that is soon to come out called blue-ray. It is supposed to hold 27 gigs(!!!) and is supposed to be the next new format for data storage. I just wanted to know why they're coming out with a format so soon? I mean, I think that dvd's are still "new" and have just starting to dominate the video field and now a new format has already emerged. What do you guys think? Are we going to see another new revolution?

  2. DVD have near 10 years now.. and blueray won't be a popular format for 3 to 5 years.. You can actually get some blueray recorder, but you won't see any blueray burner or reader at your local bestbuy for a few years

  3. Plus, there are competing standards for blue laser format.

think about it if consumers have blue ray how long do you think the government has had it for military and other purposes. this is not new technology, it is only being released to John q public because they have something better.

That seems a bit off since the U.S. is a huge market and after all they are in business to make money.
