hi
I have just ordered a dac-100, it looked the easiest and best way to get my vhs tapes onto my pc. as it does not come with any software, i already have pinnacle studio 7 (but have my doubts) is there any tutorials on how to get the finished product on to svcd or dvd dics
thanks

I'm in the same boat. Waiting for my DAC to show up too.
NO, I don't believe it comes with software.
I also ordered a Firewire card... you need one for the DAC. The one I ordered comes with software to capture video off the Firewire card (& DAC).
I've surfed around alot here. It would seem that just about any software will do the trick.
DVIO=Free or Ulead Video Studio 7 = not free.Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side. -
Boy Datavideo's stock must be going up. I just ordered it myself this morning. My motherboard already has firewire connections, so I do not need to do this step. I do not have a DVD-Writer yet, so that will be my next step.
In the meantime I need also to know what software to get for the encoding/authoring before I put it on DVD. I have already downloaded the ScenalyzerLive, so I am just waiting for the DAC100 to come in.
Also which DV codec is the best/cheapest to get? I don't mean to be cheap, but do not want to spend a ton of money on it. I still have a lot of hardware and software to buy. -

Good support from all the forums and the quality is just as good as the big $$ encoders. -
Got my dac-100 on friday, easy to set-up, have already converted a couple of my home movies from vhs to svcd, quite pleased with the results also. have used pinnacle studio 7, screnanalyer, and nero vision express, did get some dropped frames. i am only a novice at this but i have tryed to capture from some commercial tapes mostly james bond trouble is i get a lot of dropped frames. is it possibly to capture commercial tapes and then convert to svcd
