  1. I received the following info from this site
"MPEG-2 files can't be opened in IMovie or iDVD. You can get the mpeg-2 playback component for quicktime for $20 (yes that is in addition to the cost you paid for QT). Then you can open the movie in QT and export to a .mov file which you can then burn using iDVD. The only bad thing is that the component can't decode AC-3 audio. So if your muxed mpeg-2 stream has AC-3 audio, you'll get no sound."

Is there anyway to get around this!!!! I bought the Q4 17 inch powerbook, i bought the playback component, I bought the ******* quicktime pro....How do I know if the mpeg-2 stream has AC-3 audio???

    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

You need to demux your mpeg2 file into .m2v and .ac3 files. From there you can use mAC3dec to convert the .ac3 file into a .aiff file. From here you can use Quicktime Pro to combine the .m2v and .aiff files into a big Quicktime file. Although most editors won't like editing the mpeg2 stream.

I think you are trying to make a dvd, and I gave you a better solution for that in another thread.

    Good Luck.
