I was wondering if some one could talk me throw on msn how to burn an avi movie to a dvd so that I can play it on my ps2 please I have trued the help files but they do not work with me

You cant.

It has to be converted to mpeg2 first then authored then burned.

You need to encode it to VCD (I don't think PS2 can play SVCD)

Oh, oops, I didn't notice the DVD part, but as for your question, as far as I remember from past forum posts, PS2 is capable of playing VideoCD's

It wouldn't play a VCD now a SVCD. He just got it for Christmas so it's pretty new. It does play DVD's though.

Unless there is something you can do to it to make it play. It will play DVD-R's.

The first run PS2(Which I have 1) will play DVD+R as well. It did not play +RW, and it does not have the ability to VCD's without being modified or using a boot disc of some sort.

Are you sure about that, I know the early PS2's did not play VCD and I have not heard that the latest ones can play them, although this was on CDR it may be different with DVDR. For converting avi files to mpg use TMPGEnc.

Just used DVDLAB to put some svcd's on a DVD-R and it played on the PS2. I haven't tried VCD's yet.

PS2 cannot play vcds. Modded ps2 might be able to, I just haven't found a program that did yet. I use the ps2 divx player to play divx. I have taken some svcds and done some header tricks to have them play like they were dvds. For vcds I demux and author as a dvd. my version of the ps2 can play dvd-r/rw +r/rw. My very first ps2 didn't read +rw if I remember correctly.

A Few steps to take tho to make a proper VCD that will work in ps2!!

Might as well go buy a DVD player that plays VCD's !!!!
