Hi, I would like to know about the Full Frames Uncompressed choice for Video Compression. I know it's recommend to use Pic Video MPEG, but I don't like the logo on the avi file, and I'm just being cheap and don't want to spend money to remove it. I created a avi file having the full frames Uncompressed choice the quality looks fine playing the file on Window media player, and I was wondering about how this will look on dvd ? I didn't want to make it into a vcd until I know the quality it will on dvd ?

VCD and DVD do not use uncompressed AVI files. It uses mpeg-1 and 2, so you have to convert the uncompressed file to mpeg. Convert your files to VCD format or DVD format mpeg and then look at the files on your PC. The reason most people use Picvideo is because uncompressed video files are HUGE, you need lots of gig's to capture video uncompressed. However, no compression will give the best video quality, always. But, you cannot put uncompressed video on a VCD or DVD.

Ok I guess I will just pay the fee to get the registration code at Pic Video MPEG.
Thanks

Why not use Huffyuv? It's free and personally I think it's 'more lossless' than PicVideo.

HuffyUV is lossless and gives about 3:1 compression.
PicVideo at level 20 ?is lossless or near lossless. At anything less, JPEG type artificing becomes increasingly noticable but the compression ratio is quite good. PicVideo MJPEG may also be more CPU friendly than HuffyUV though this shouldn't be an issue if you have a fast processor.
The PicVideo MJPEG codec used to be free for home use... The older (free) version of this codec is installed with some program that I can't remember the name of. If you search the forums for "PicVideo MJPEG", I'm sure you'll find the post with that message.

If you are going to convert the .AVI file to a VCD-compliant MPG, then the Full-Frames Uncompressed will give the best quality MPG file. Rembember, any time you use compression, you are losing quality, so for the absolute best quality output, your choice of Full-Frames Uncompressed give you optimum results.

Well, actually, as long as you are using a lossless AVI codec, the quality will be NO DIFFERENT to using uncompressed AVI.
Using some form of AVI compression is useful as you greatly save on HDD requirements.
