  1. Hi,

    My system is
    AMD Athlon 2GHz
    Hercules Smart TV capture card
Soft Power VCR II and Virtualdub

Problem is : Black and white image on screen.

I tried several formats of PAL (I am In Belgium) : B&W always.

I capture from Scart port of VCR via the sVHS input of the Hercules.

What do I miss? Cable configuration, soft ???

    Any idea around ?

    Thanks

  2. What is your source?

I once tried to capture a NTSC (i thought it was PAL) using PAL settings.

I only got B&W picture, untill i found out that i had to capture it as a NTSC.

    All went fine then

    Did it work before???
Maybe your VCR doesn't send proper SVHS signal... Try composite input of your capturecard...
Or your SVHS cable is broken...

  5. HAG'

    Thanks for reply.

I tried two different VCR with the svhs input : both B&W
I also tried LG DVD player, Simba202 sat receiver : B&W.

I have not tried composite, but I will soon.

What do you mean by svhs cable broken ?

    Thanks

Maybe one of the pins of the SVHS cable is broken...
With a SVHS cable the video (Y) and color (C) signal are transmitted seperatly... So if the color pin is broken or missaligned you only receive Luminance signal (eg. Blank and White)...
And like I said... Not ALL VCR's send SVHS signals!!!
Try different cables or use composite input...

  7. I don't know the Hercules card, but could yours be set to capture NTSC instead of PAL?

  8. You're right HAG, I think I'll definitively go for composite and that should solve the problem

    Thanks again
