  1. Anybody know how to fix a freeze in a divx file without messing up the ID tag thingy? I tried using DivFix found at http://www.animerage.com/ but, as I said, the ID tag will disappear.
It says there that you can also use VirtualDub to do it, but Im not exactly sure how to.
If anyone could tell me how to use VirtualDub or introduce me to a new utility altogether that would solve my problem, I would really appreciate it.

  3. Get "irtual-freeze-mp3 " then open your video, go video > check for freezes, and wait a while... then go the file c:\badframes.log view it and I just delete those frames (usually like a microsecond of film) or try to fix those frames... then ch

  4. Yeah, but how would I delete the frames? And wouldn't it sorta mess up the file, since some of the video was cut away or something?
BTW, jonnylee523, I think you are trying to burn a vcd, right? If so, you need to convert it to MPEG. If you are just burning a data cd, then Im not sure why it won't work really =P sorry

  5. Ok, I just found out that by using DivFix to just strip the index, not rebuild it, the ID tag will remain intact. Yet when i build the index it will tell me that the file is corrupted or in an invalid format, but Ill still be able to play it in, say, Windows Media Player. However, if you wanted to play it using "preview" or look at the "details" on the properties window, you wouldn't be able to watch it or get any info on it.
Anyway thats what I found out, and if anyone can tell me a way to rebuild the index without messing up the ID tag, then I would really appreciate it!!!

Someone has already told you to use "vdub-mp3-freeze.exe" is makes a log of the bad frames, then you can remove them at key frames.

If the frames are bad, they are bad and cutting out bad frames has no effect on what good frames you have.

If those frames were 20 frames of blankness, what use are they ?, so fixing blackness is of no use ?? so they need deleting. You will hardly notice the cut

  7. Ok, and how exactly do I cut frames out?

  8. in vdub, go to edit > then select go to, tupe in the frame number 2 frames before the bad frame and enter it. Then go the bottom of the VDub screen and click that left arrow button. Go to 2 frames after badframes end, and hit left arrow. The bottom hit DEL key. Repeat for any areas that have bad frames,.

  9. Ok, one more question. How do I save the AVI with the exactly the same compression that it had before. Ya know, instead of picking one out myself and everything.

Type in 2 frames before it ?, you still need to move to a keyframe, cutting anywhere else can cause problems later.

Click right mouse on move and find out what codec was used, then select that for your comression, before you save.

    BUT !
you dont select a codec when you are just cutting, you select Video > Direct stream copy.... it does not decompress or compress, just copy's and skips the bad frames
