    1. Insert dvd into mac
    2. open the dvd disk, after you close the apple dvd player that automatically launches
    3. find the VIDEO_TS folder, drag it to your HD

    4. open toast.
    5. Go to OTHER, and choose DVD
    6. Click NEW and name your disk whatever the movie is (all capitals and _ for space) example MY_DVD
    7. Click NEW FOLDER and name it AUDIO_TS
    8. Drag the VIDEO_TS folder you just copied to your desktop from the dvd-r into the toast window.

9 ensure there is no .ds_store file in the VIDEO_TS folder by clicking on the arrow next to it in toast. if there is, click on it once then push teh MUINUS (-) button.

    10. click RECORD, choose speed and your done.

This forum already has several threads covering this, but you should be able to just make a new folder on your HD with the name of the DVD, copy all the folders on the DVD to that folder on your HD, launch Toast, select 'DVD' mode in the 'Other' menu, and drag the folder on your HD containing all the DVD's folders (aka VIDEO_TS et al) to the Toast window, remove any .DS_Store files, and hit 'Record'. Other options include putting Toast in CD Copy mode with the read drive set to the one containing the DVD and choosing 'Save as Disk Image' in the 'File' menu. Then, once the image is saved, you can put Toast in 'Disk Image' mode in the 'Other' menu and drag the image to Toast and hit 'Record'. You can also use Disk Copy, selecting 'Create Image from Volume' in the 'File' menu I believe, setting it to 'CD/DVD Master' and choosing the DVD volume, and then use Toast in 'Disk Image' mode to record to DVD. I think the first method is easiest. Always make sure it copied ok to your HD by opening the VIDEO_TS folder in DVD Player (Command-O) and playing it from HD, or mounting the images and playing in DVD Player if you chose to make a disk image. Happy burning!

  4. Thanks...it worked perfectly. Is there such a thing as making a menu for the dvd to put multiple titles on it?

If the files will fit on a single DVD-R (are smaller than 4.37 GB total), you can put several titles on a single disk with or without a menu. If you have DVD Studio Pro, you can make a menu and select any track you can fit on a DVD-R. If you don't, you can use Sizzle to burn a disk with multiple tracks, and simply advance through the DVD by chapter to get to the track you want, depending on the order you put them in.

Actually, just holding the OPTION button down, click and hold on the DVD Disk on your desktop, then drag to a new location on your desktop, you will see the mouse change to have a green + sign. This is how you do a direct copy of a CD/DVD directly to your HD.
Whatever is in the dvd will show up in a folder on your desktop thats automatically named what the dvd was named. (the folder icon even is the DVD icon!)

Sort of a waste of time this way, you are just doing it twice, once to your HD as a .toast (and since you already have the dvd copied to your HD in folder form, this isnt really needed) and then again to burn to DVD.

Agreed, you should always open the VIDEO_TS folder in apple dvd player so that you can make sure it copied over just fine. When you verify its good, just burn as mentioned above.

also check my website, its got lots of info on Macintosh Video! and ill add a you will see this mentioned in the DVD to DVDr with screenshots page!
