    Hi
I decided to go for CANOPUS …
The thing is I am not sure which one will work best for me for the best price.

All I need is a good capture of cable TV or VHS into best quality avi file .
People here has recommended the ADVC-100…
The thing is , in Israel (where I live) it costs 360$
This is why I thought of the ADVC-50 which costs here 239$
Beside the analog out that the ADVC-100 model has, does it have the same capture quality ?
When capturing from Cable TV or VHS , does it matter that the ADVC does not have the macrovision off ?

I also thought of the ADVC 1394 which is a card and not an external unit.
It costs 269$ a bit more that the ADVC-50 but saves the additional $$ for a firewire Card.
When it come to capturing Does this card has the same quality of the 2 above ?

    So??

Based of my needs for analog TV/VHS capture for PC…
Which one of the 3 is the best for the price ???

I will not want to spend the extra money if the capture image/video quality is about the same, and the difference is just with the extra functions

    Thanks
    Erez

    hi again

just now i see in the spec of the ADVC 50 that it is an internal unit .

so what is the defference of it to the ADVC 1394...

does the internal ADVC-50 unit need a IEEE card as well, or can i just install it and start capturing ?

    thanks again

    All I can say is..
If you want absolute trouble-free performance, you can't get any better
than the more expensive model, ADVC-100. But, it requires a firewire
    card.
Also, if you are planning on doing any video work that has MV, your only
alternative is the advc-100. The other two models do not desable MV
    what-so-ever.

    That's it.

i don't think i need for MacroVision clean up.

i need a card for recording Cable TV shows ...
as far as i know there is no macrovision in cable...

i know my asus 8200 with capture of vfw don't see any MV

    so...

i guess paying 100$ more to loose the macrovision i don't have , is not really needed...

but maybe you can tell me , if the ADVC-1394, or ADVC-50 cards need also FireWire card installed???
