As far as I know, you will have to drag the songs into Nero one at a time and then it should work like you want.
-
What version of Nero are you using and are you doing a disk copy, or are you using some other method of backup?
-
Ok thanks for the replies guys
Firstly to bizeebee, it's kinda hard to drag the songs in one at a time because it's an album (all songs are together)
Secondly to andkiich, im using Nero version 5.5.10 which has served me well
up untill now.
The method i use is select make audio cd>drag+drop songs. This method works great for single songs but not for a album
To get what i want to acheive, would i have to say, split each track on the album one at a time then drop each into Nero?
Any advice appreciated guys -
have you tried ripping the album to your hard drive with nero making them into mp3's then burn them nac onto a cd?
-
Once you have dragged the album (I assume you mean its one long track) into the destination box in nero, right click/properties on it and you will get some options come up including split points, where you can spot the silence between tracks and split - if they are not obviousy ou can zoom in.
Also, you can reduce the default 2s between tracks (except the first track) which will make it play better. Select all tracks except the first and reduce the silence to (e.g.) 0.1 seconds -
i am also running nero 5.5.10.0 do you have 2 disk drives? a readable one and a writeable one? cuz then you could just go to File-->New and then do CD Copy. it will do an exact replica of the original cd.
if you don't, try ghoster's idea of recording the songs onto your hard drive, then using nero to burn those, each as separate tracks. an excellent program to record them that i always is use is called cdex. very easy to use, and can record either as .wav or as .mp3 you can get it here: http://www.cdex.n3.net/ -
Even if you only have 1 drive you can still make a disc copy. Create a disc image on your hard drive first then burn this image to disc.
-
You should download a free software called cdex. This will rip your cd onto the hard drive as mp3, then you burn as normal.

Thanks again guys, some excellent suggestions there
Ok, firstly i dont have 2 cd drives so thats a no no.
Also not that sure on how to make a disc image!
I think i'll take a look at this cdex, sounds pretty good and maybe i'll try ghoster's suggestion aswell then decide which works out best.
Thanks to you all -
If you choose your CD burner as the location of the source and the destination drive Nero will automatically create a temporary disc image for you on your hard drive. I suggest you read the help files for Nero it really is not difficult.
This is the help file for copying a CD
You can choose between two methods if you want to copy a CD.
1. The image copy: the original CD will be read from the recorder and Nero will then create and save an image file, with the contents of your CD, to e.g. your hard disk. In a third step, Nero writes the image file onto a blank CD.
2. The copy on-the-fly. Nero will read directly from your CD-ROM drive and write to your recorder, without creating an image file on your hard disk
It's hard to give general advice on when to use „on the fly" and when to use „image copy". The following list can give you some hints:
Choose „image copy" if you
1. Want the best possible reproduction (especially concerning audio tracks)
2. Have enough time for an image copy which takes somewhat longer than an „on the fly" copy
3. Have enough free space on a hard disk to store the CD image (you will possibly need several hundred megabytes!)
4. Want to write multiple copies of a CD
5. Expect read errors on the source CD (for example if you can see scratches or dust on the disc)
6. Want to copy mixed mode (a data track and one or more audio track) CD's. This is because some CD-ROM drives have an unholy tendency to „hang up" (that means they don't respond any longer to SCSI/IDE commands most likely crashing your computer) while reading blocks between the data and the audio track of a mixed mode CD. If this happens while an „
on the fly" copy takes place your destination CD will be crushed by a buffer underrun.
Choose „on the fly" copy if you
1. Don't have much time
2. Don't have enough free space on your hard disk (hint: 1 minute of audio takes about 10 MB and a CD image file may be several hundred MB long!)
3. Want to copy a CD-ROM (no audio tracks) and trust the error correction capabilities of your CD-ROM drive
4. Want to copy mixed mode (a data track and one or more audio tracks) CDs and are pretty sure (by experience?) that your CD-ROM drive will read audio tracks perfectly and won't „hang up" (see above) between the data and audio track of a mixed mode CD
5. Don't care if audio index positions get lost
6. Have lots of empty CD recordables
7. Nero versions 3.0 or higher are capable of burning „on the fly" copies using a CD-ROM drive as input device. You don't need several hundred megabytes of free volume space on your hard disk any longer and will be able to copy CDs much faster. That's the good news. -
Nero had problems copying several CD`s.
I would recommend cloneCD to make 1to1 copies.

And there is ExactAudioCopy which can extract the tracks and also can decode/encode the tracks in very high quality, this is freeware.

Listen to the hairy one.
Give Nero a chance with Cd Copy option. It really should on take a few clicks and it should be copying away. It is really very easy.
All these MP3 ripping suggestions have a downside - MP3's although excellent, are not lossless. A direct image copy will be your best method of reproduction if you want something as close as possible to your original. The glass is neither half-full, nor half-empty.
It is simply twice as big as it needs to be. -
Ok, i took the hairy one's advice and followed the small guide posted ( not that it was really needed very simple) and it worked like a dream
Cheers fellas
