  1. How do I burn a captured DV home movie that is stored as Windows Media Audio/Video file onto a CD-R so that it will play in a DVD player.

Burned it as it is and got disc error message from DVD player.

    Thanks

Windows Media Files aren't supported by DVD players.

Look at guides for SVCD and VCD.

Yes, there are 1 or 2 players that support WMA, certain codecs and certain rates. Odss are 1,000,000:1 yours does. Odds are 3:4 that yours will play VCD or SVCD.[/code]

  3. Thanks Gazorgan but there are no guides showing WMV to VCD or SVCD.

Can anyone advise where I can find the relevant info on converting WMA/V files to a format that will burn a movie on a CD-R that will ultimately play on my DVD player?

    Cheers

  4. dload tmpgenc from tools on left, open it , choose the vcd template, browse for the file on your cd (you can do it direct from the cd, i like to copy them to my comp first though) load the file into tmpgenc(sometimes wmv files wont show as an option you can choose so just tell it to show all files then click your wmv file) then click through the crap , choose a file name and locale to save it to.

when done you must burn the vcd with a prog that burns vcds i use ulead m factory , or nero. burn as a vcd and you should be good. if your player plays vcd. if it plays svcd then you can acheive a better resolution. choosing 2 pass vbr will take longer but also give you a better res if your unfamiliar with tmpgenc do a search and read up!
