  1. I hve been wondering for fun as to how VOB files and IFO files work. Here is what I was trying to achieve:

I am a music fan. I have a collection of various DVDs from various artists. I thought it be nice to put all my favourite tracks on one DVD-R. So I went about searching how to do it and as usual this site is the first one to start. I basically followed the guide here:

    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/120021.php

I used VobEdit V.06 to Demux/Cell IDs. Great, manged to seperate the songs (35) from various DVDs and VOB files.

Used VobEdit to join the clip. In the end I end with 5 Vob files (4 files 1,048,452KB and fifth one of 305,220KB).

Used IfoEdit to crete IFOs. Corrected language and Get VTS Sectors (After existing out the app)

It worked fine on PC as far the playing was concern. Skip to the next chapter and so on. But it freeze when tried to search within a chapter. On the Top Set DVD player same problem and more problems with freezing. I played the indiviual VOB files (Joined by VobEdit), it played and searched without any problems.

So my guess is that something is wrong with the IFO file created by IfoEdit. My guess is (by opening it in the IfoEdit) that it has created 1 PGC_1 (Programme Chain), 35 VOB IDS (I bleieve they should be just 5) and 35 Cells.

I am stuck, no clue. What is wrong?

Can I use an another app to create IFO file for my five VOB files. Do I need to correct the VOB IDs, if so How do I do it?

Thanking in advance. I am sure answer is out there.

  2. hi,

actually i tried this very same method yesterday, they were individual vobs and i have had difficulties as well, what i experience is that my standalone player will only play the 2nd chapter (i think) and if i select the next/previous chapter it'll just repeat the 2nd one over n over again,

can anyone tell me what i may be doing wrong, i follwed the same guide as noted by icemanatvcd, i tried several times and still achieve the same result, and i have followed the guide exactly as posted...

  3. I am glad I am not the only one! kas187 welcome to the club. I am having the same problem, it start stuffing around chapter 3 or 4 for me, then it keep repeating the same chaper or it will freeze.

Just wondering how does it play on your PC? I had problems on my PC as well in scanning/seeking thorugh later chapters. Normally first two or three chapter would run fine.

I know I'm referring to Friend's episode DVD's in this quote but you could use the songs in the same sort of way and create your own authored music DVD with a menu too

just use DVDSHrink and reauthor DVD ripping as many episodes as you require

then use the 30 day trial of DVD Lab and simply just drop the VOB's into assets box

only thing is u can only have one audio track and that's it

it even works out chapter points for you if you want. I stuck 6 in so I can skip thru just in case I fall asleep or get called away so far thru an episode

but its just worked great fpr me putting the Friends series together onto one DVD and creating a simple menu scanned from DVD Cover

it had 4 episodes per side but now I have all 8 on one DVD

all of 5 mins usertime using DVD Lab then I'm using IC to shrink it just a little

when u can use more audio and import subs it will be a great app but it will do for now backing up my Friends collection cos that will take a while

  6. MackemX, I'm very interested in your method for putting two "Friends" DVDs on one DVD-R. Could you explain it in more details?
A "step-by-step" description would be fantastic!!

    Thanks in advance,
