  1. Hi all

Probably a simple question for all you experts!

I am trying to convert an AVI file from a DV camcorder to SVCD using TMPGenc.

I always end up with a picture that is stretched vertically (Tallscreen?) it doesnt matter what settings I use it always happens.

    Any thoughts

    Cheers

  2. That's normal - it depends what you're playing it back with. If it's something that understands the SVCD format - it will fix it.

Logically, the 480x480(576) is the same picture as a 720x480(576) DVD picture - so it will look tall until the player "rescales" it.

If you burn one and play it back in a player that properly handles SVCD, it will look fine.

  3. Thanks for the reply.

I havent actually tried it in a player I was just previewing it in TMPGenc.

I will try in a player once I can burn it.

    Cheers

You could also try playing it back using a software DVD player program such as PowerDVD. Such players know how to deal with SVCD playback. That way you can see what it is actually going to look like (aspect ratio wise) before you burn it to cd.
