  1. ...convert a file captured with PowerVCR II so I can watch it with an ordinary media player, instead of having to use PowerVCR? I can't open it in VirtualDub either. Is there a codec perhaps that enables me to do these things?

If I remember correctly (and I probably don't ), once the file has been 'preped', it's just a non-standard MPEG-2. Did you try the MPEG version of VirtualDub? What format is the file, and what error does VirtualDub, or Media Player give you?

  3. Mpeg VDub did the trick! Thanks a bunch!
Its mpeg, but I can't play it in any mediaplayer avaliable (except for PowerVCR), which is weird. Now I can record and convert to avi, which was my original plan =) Would be cool to find a codec that managed the format tho. Here is the error response I get from Classic Media Player 6.4.4.2:

Just to be sure, you do have an MPEG-2 codec installed right? One that came with something like WinDVD, or PowerDVD? I seem to recall I could play my MPEG's with media player. It's been a long time since I used that config though, and I only had it a short while.

It's DVD Complient MPEG2, which won't play on WMP because of Royalty fees. VDUB Mod will work. Download an MPEG2 codec and you should be okay, there is one in the download section.

If it's a compliant MPEG-2, and the codec is installed, it will play just fine in media player.
