  1. I am attempting to make a copy of a previously burned DVD-R (not burned by me) using Nero. I copied the VIDEO_TS file from the original DVD-R to my hard drive then attempted to burn the DVD using Nero in the UDF 1.02 format. The disc burns fine but will only play on my computer and not any of my standalone players although DVD-R's made by others have played on my machines. I have tried playing with the bit rate and that did not have any effect either. Is Nero a good program for burning DVD's? Is there something better I should be using or am I just doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated. I am using a Memorex DVD+R burner.

    Thanks,

    T.

  2. You say that you had no problem playing DVD-R discs, but that your standalone cannot play discs made with your Memorex DVD+R burner. Your standalone probably supports DVD-R discs, but not DVD+R. Check your player in the compatability section of this web page.

  3. When you burn with Nero, just use the NERO EXPRESS and select DVD VIDEO FILES. In NERO this is the easiest way to burn a dvd.

Or use DVD Decrypter to copy a dvd-r in ISO mode.

if this is right then the reason your standalone player wont read the disk is because you have to decrypt the dvd first, even if your friend has authored the disk. You can't just copy the dvd content & burn em, it doesnt work like that

use dvddecryptor to decrypt the dvd and then burn the disk, (look at the how to guides) try that

if it still dont work try a different burning software, nero can be a pain sometimes...

NERO was a DVD Frisbee factory for me when I first started DVD BU. There are rumors Nero fixed the problems in the latest builds but I still have my doubts. Try a different burning software application. I use Record Now Max and have had no problems since I switched. Some people use NERO without problems and that is good for them, use what works for you. I do not like a program that has to do update every 5 days and still doesn’t produce 100% DVD Compatible files correctly. I probable have 10 copies or NERO around here somewhere but I do not use the burning portion any more [I do use the wav editor and the cover designer] though. In reality it is not even Nero’s fault, entirely but a combination of the burning application and different standalone sets that are very picky about 100% DVD Compliant files. If you do a search for [NERO + Problems] you will see a multitude of known issues. RNM has a 30 day free trial and if you own certain software on a list on the site you can qualify for discount that makes for a very low priced upgrade.

  7. I've made a dozen coasters with nero, they play in my PC but not anything else at all. I installed CopyToDVD yesterday and all my problems were solved, burnt 10 last night and they all work. It seems for me the ASPI interface may be shafted. CopyToDVD installed its own and I've been fine with that.

For a DVDR copy, I used DVDShrink with no compression to put the files onto my HD, then CopyToDVD to burn them. Took about 35 mins with a 4x write I think.

  8. The newest revision of Nero that I have 5.9.10.22(I think) has always worked when creating a DVD video on my stand alones, PS2, and XBOX.

I have not tried using using an older version, so it might be that the newer versions have bug fixes that resolve the issues you describe.

  9. FULCI, DO NOT GIVE UP

I`m not a big expert but I also got a Memorex DVD writer so I might help a bit.
First of all get the latest firmware if you don`t want to have burning problems like I had first. You can download it from the manufacturers website, comes with a Flash Program, easy to use.
Secondly must have the DVD BitSetter from www.DVDplusRW.org to be able to burn the disc in DVD-ROM specification for better compatibility.
You didn`t mention DVD decrypting, etc so I explain the easy and cheap way I make DVD+R(W)s.
Use DVD Shrink (freeware) that makes the decrypting and shrinking, able to select streams,...
    Do the bitsettingVD+R to DVD-ROM
I don`t like Nero so I stick with RecordNow Max (Freeware for 30 days).

    Sincerely
    tompika

PS: Shame on Memorex Support Service, they do not answer my emails, I had to do some intelligence to find out lots of things. This could be an excellent writer if you know how to handle it.

  10. Or if it was a DVD-R just use the `MAKE AN EXACT COPY` with the RecorNow Max Wizard.
