I'm a true Complete Newbie on DVD ripping. But decided to try InstantCopy yesterday. And noticed a weird problem when I installed it.
The program had a weird effect on my back up hard drive that I store my caps in. All the other drive partitions would open up and stay open until I closed them myself.
But that one drive partition(that has about 15Gigs of mpeg-2 caps and image files from previous DVD authoring processing that I'm still working on)would open for about 3 seconds and then close itself automatically before I could do anything with the files on it, and took me back to my desktop. I wasn't running any programs at the time, I was just trying to open the drive partition to remind myself what video files were in it.
I could Not keep the drive partition open for more than the 3 seconds no matter how I tried accessing stuff in that drive(eg., going thru My Computer, Windows Explorer or even a file search by video file names thru the Start Menu/Search). Everytime I opened that drive or any of the files in it, the window would close in 3 seconds and I'd be back to my desktop.
But as soon as I uninstalled InstantCopy, I could open that partition for as long as I wanted, until I closed it myself again.
Has Anybody ever heard of that happening with InstantCopy or other ripping programs?

"Signature"......
I use a Dazzle capturing system that Only lets me capture into Mpeg. So that is all I work with. I never do any DV/AVI video..... -
Spiderman,
(I don't need to fix the problem now because it went away as soon as I uninstalled InstantCopy)
But I'm really trying to understand how that could have happened.
Are you saying that you have seen this happen before? I am very interested to know. I mean, how could a program I loaded onto my operating system drive and had not run yet, have any effect at all on a totally unrelated partition?
(But were you saying scandisk my operating system drive, or the drive that keeps closing?...they are different drive partitions)."Signature"......
