I'm getting an error when trying to rip the DVD to HD using DVDDecrypter. I'm not on that PC right now, so I'm not able to write the error message here. Smartripper starts to work, but then the read rate drops to 0 and stops. Has anyone else had this problem and was able to fix it?
The DVD-Rom drive I had in here before would rip DVDs just fine, but there's no room to put in back in.

I have a Philips DVDRW208 and I have had similar problems with some disks. Does it say something about not beiing able to read a specific sector and then list a number after it?
That is what it did for me. Quite a few times, the problem went away when I cleaned the disk. I would try that first. If that doesn't fix it, then I don't know what to tell you. The disks that normally didn't rip for me usually looked like they had scratches in them. I suggest that you try and find another disk, as that meay be the problem. -
No it wasn't that. I was reading the FAQ for DVDDecrypter and it said to install an ASPI driver. I already had the NERO ASPI installed, so I tried the Adaptec ASPI.. It seems to have fixed the problem.

Warm water and mild (hand) soap and your finger is good for cleaning disks. Dry completely with a clean cloth. I don't reccomend cleaner for glasses, it can affect the plastic. This clears up a LOT of ripping issues.
Use a lens cleaner on your drive as well (dirty disks anc leave behind dirty lenses. To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
If it works, that's cool. But I have had many disks tell me of theerror bfore I cleaned them. My advice is to clean disks before ripping them. DVD Decryptor recogniizes my ASPI adapter(?) when I start it. But if downloading an ASPI adapter fixes your problem, then your golden. Still, make sure you rip a clean disk.
