I have a Pioneer A05 dvd writer and saw a good deal for a 50 disk spindle of Optodisc dvd-r disks for $54. SO I was wondering if its worth the money to buy this brand so I won;t have any coasters for making movies and what not.
Thanks

I use the OptoDisc 1x silver/purple in my Pioneer 105 and they work great. I've burned about 15 of 'em so far with no coasters. They even burn at 2x with the hacked v1.3 firmware.

I bought 100 of the gold/purple ones from supermediastore.com and they have worked great so far... no playback problems.

I've used four 50-pack spindles of blue top Optodisc DVD-R 1x discs. The first three were flawless.
But the fourth, I'm wondering if they changed their formulation or something. I got ten discs that locked up and froze toward the end of the movie. That was bad enough I'm gonna try Samsung BeAlls next.

Optodisc is the only ones I use now in my Pioneer A05. I get them for $1.20 each in DVD cases shipped, silver tops. Burned a few hundred now with no coasters.

I have a SONY DRU500A and have been primarily using TDK 2x DVD-R media. I was given a pack of 20 Optodisc DVD-R disks.
I have used 5 of them already. Record at 2x. One of them failed the verify (I always verify recordings). The disk (DVD-Video) was usable and apparently the discrepancy was small enough to be skipped by the DVD player.
The Optodisc media is quite cheap, and I may be using lot of it for DVD Video, but will never use them for backing up data. For that, I only use TDK.The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know. -
A few comments on OptoDisc:
1) 55$ for a pack of 50 is more expensive then what I paid for. I paid 9.95$ for 10, each in its own jewel case, local store
2) haven't got any coaster with this brand yet.
This seems a good brand for me, especially each disc is in its own jewel case. The bulk 50 sells for 45$ but I am afraid some may have scratches due to the way the are packed together.
I used up my 100 Ritek (purple) and only got 6 coasters: 3 due to bad software, 3 due to visible scratches on media.
My burner is Pioneer 105.ktnwin - PATIENCE -
Get gold-coated or blue-coated OptoDiscs, and you won't be unhappy. They are great. (But any silver-topped disc is liable to have more problems, so stay away from the cheapo optodiscs if they make any - didn't know they did until I saw it in this post).
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored. -
I also hear the Pioneer 4x dvd-r is also pretty good, so I will give them a try too. I've always liked Pioneer
