I've tried with patched 1006 RPC-1 firmware from
www.firmware-flash.com but i keep getting this msg when i try to run the patch:

I'm not sure, but shouldn't the flash utility be run in pure DOS mode - not in a DOS window from Windows? I'm not sure that will improve matters (in fact, I doubt it...) but why not give it a try?

Easy! You don't. There is no such thing as a "pure DOS mode" in XP.

Yes, a Windows 9X/me start disc (or any floppy created with "format a: /s" on a non NT/XP box) will do. Just copy the required app / flash files to the floppy, as you wont have access to your HD (if you've gone NTFS).
