Hello all.
I was just thinking if getting high-qual Mpeg2 without hardware encodes
is possible. New TV-Tuners f.ex ASUS now have much better chips onboard
10bit Connexant CX23880 provides high video quality over
its 8 and 9bit predecessors so you have damn good raw image on screen
ready to capture and compress. What I suspect is that new hardware encoders
that are cheap use older chips with rather average quality as
it comes to raw uncompressed live image. So the consequence could be
capturing average quality image despite it was compressed by hardware
in realtime even using max quality cbr/vbr/res options.
The point is either I have to wait for a completely new cheaper capture
cards or use the newest 10bit TV tuners with very fast systems which
would be superior in video quality to any other hardware stuff for average
consumers available now.
I think it's worth it because sooner or later everyone has to upgrade
their little turtleand TV-tuners cost less.
