  1. Hello there
Please, please, can somebody help me.
My problem is that i have a xbox with a samsung drive, ( which is the drive thats supposed to be the most compatable ).
I have a philips dvdrw 228 which i have been using to write my dvds through nero and record now ( movies and backup games ) to dvd+rw
which have all played fine in my xbox and a standalone dvd player.
But when i use the same method to write to dvd+r they do not work ( the video works on standalone dvd player but not in xbox ).
Why will it not play dvd+r, i've been informed from another website that the xbox is not compatable with the dvd+ media, but as you can see i've been using dvd+rw, so whats the problem with dvd+r.
If anybody has a xbox with samsung drive and has used dvd+r succesfully
could you please let me know which brand of dvd+r and software you used to write the disk. The brands i used are as follows.
    philips dvd+rw - ok
    imation dvd+rw - ok
infiniti dvd+r - does not work ? (why not ).

Any help would be very very very very much appreciated.

    thank you very much

    gitrid

P.S. I bought the xbox with samsung drive because i was informed it was the best drive with compatability issues. And now somebody has told me to swap it for a thomson or philips and give them a bit of cah as well.
    OH SH*T. Sods law AGAIN.

  3. Me and My brother have found only one combination that will work with the xbox no matter if its a +R or -R, you must rip the DVD 1st with either Smartripper or Dycrpter and then use DVD2ONE 1.0 or DVDshrink 1.2, and Recordnow DX 4.6, any other combinations have failed, even when we upgraded to DVD2ONE 1.1 or DVDShrink 1.3 these failed also to play, we use either Ritek or Merritline blanks.

TRY CHANGING THE BOOK TYPE OF YOUR DVD+R . YOU CAN DO THIS USING THE LATEST VERSION OF NERO USE DVD VIDEO AND MAKE SURE THAT ISO LEVEL 1 IS CHECKED ALONG WITH ISO 9660. UNCHECK EVERYTHING ELSE. CLICK NEW. AT THE TOP OF THE SCRENE SELECT RECORDER NOW SELECT MEDIUM-INFO PRACTISE USING A +RW NOW CHANGE BOOK TYPE TO DVD ROM. THE FOLLOWING CAN BE USED TO CHECK WHAT BOOK TYPE YOUR DVD+R DISKS ARE RECORDED. BUT DOSEN'Y APPLY TO CHANGING DVD+R BOOK TYPE. OPEN YOUR WRITE CD DIALOG UNDER BURN CHECK BOOK TYPE DVD-ROM. HOPE THIS HELPS I HAVE NOT HAD DVD PLAYER THAT COULD'T PLAY MY DISCS USING THIS METHOD ALWAY USE BOOK TYPE DVD-ROM FOR DVD+R/+RW TO BE MUST COMPATIBLE. 8) :P

  5. I also hace Philips DVDRW228. I use Record Now DX and have used DVD+R media which have included Ritek, Fuji, and Verbatim all with no problems in my x-box.

  6. I just purchased my first DVD Writer last weekend (Sony DRU-500AX) and burned my first disk which was a DVD+R (Verbatim 2.4X) of the movie Unforgiven (I wanted something single layer) using only DVD Decrypter. I was unable to get it to read on my Toshiba SD-1600 player, but it worked fine on my XBox.

  7. i used +r on my xbox and it worked fine.

i ripped the dvd, then used record max now and recorded the dvd as a data dvd. i just dragged and dropped the empty audio_ts folder and the Video_ts folder in record max and burned.. worked on every player ive tried so far.
