    I have a 300w PSU in a pc i built for my friend (my first) and it seems to get hot inside of the case and i was wondering if i installed a 550w Antec PSU (laying on floor in a box unused) would it make it hotter or would it make it cooler or would there be no change?

    It would depend on the fan configuration of the Antec. If your friend has some generic PSU, the Antec might help lower its temperatures because brand name PSU have usually better fan configurations. Generic ones usually have one fan to exhuast. Install it and try it for a couple days.

    K thanks the 550w is dual fan (1 on top 1 on the side) and the 300w only has 1 fan.
