  1. My VCR is alright and have not run in to an issue I need a time based corrector. Since I want a new vcr looking a JVC svhs the only thing it says it has video synchonization. I started looking for a time based corrector vcr. or just a stand alone time based corrector.

The current JVC SVHS VCRs seem to give excellent pictures, at least the ones with active video calibration and video stabilizer so maybe not the very low end models. The higher end models also include time base corrector and digital noise reduction but the tracking doesn't seem to work very well. I tried the HR-S9911U and the SR-V10U and on some tapes there was quite a bit of static in the audio with the automatic tracking and the manual tracking had a very narrow sweet spot where both the audio and video were good. The worst part was it wasn't always noticeable from the beginning so you might capture a whole tape and not realize there were bad spots in the audio until half way through watching it.

From looking at the manuals, the Panasonic Proline AG-3200 seems almost identical to the JVC SR-V10U, biggest difference was no TBC. Thing is it's so similar, almost identical specs and even uses the same remote and menus, it makes me wonder if they're actually built by different people and if they would perform any different.

If you do a google search on "TBC 1000" you'll find a pretty good report from a guy who claims that the datavideo TBC outperforms the JVC internal TBC. I have two of the datavideo TBCs and they are great! I can capture two hours of SVHS with a PVR-250 without any audio/video skew!
