  1. I have joint 2 svcd mpeg2 files together as one.I have done this with 2 films so i can make a giant svcd on a dvdr. Now how do i author these's,i dont think i can use the svcd template in nero as it wants to burn at X6.on a dvdr thats a X1 discs.

Now i was thinking what if i made a dvd-iso in nero and do this
Settings ISO Level 2,but under a dvd/iso i cant change it to more2/xa like on the standard svcd tamplate.

    And put these ...
    EXT
    MPEG2
    SEGMENT
    SVCD

Folders on it with the 2 mpegs in the mpeg2 folder and burnt,Would this work ???

no. you need to re-encode the video to a DVD standard resolution (352*288/240, 352*576/480, 704*576/480 and 720*576/480) and the audio needs to be resampled to 48khz. i would go for 352X576/480 and do 2 pass VBR to get the best out of it.

You can't burn mode 2 xa on dvd. You can only burn in iso/udf mode as standard data and then it will only work on standalone dvd players that can play "mpeg1/2 iso/data files" from dvd(very few). If you want to play it on most standalone dvd players you MUST author as dvd.
You can either reconvert to dvd or make a "dvd-svcd" (only reconvert the audio), https://www.videohelp.com/guides?tools=&madeby=&formatconversionselect=SVCD+to+DVD&ossel...&search=Search

If you do not have a DVD-Player from one of the big brands and your Player is capable to play SVCDs the chances are high that you are able to play a non-standard DVD in 480x480/576 resolution. Therefore you need to demux the big file and reencode just the audio file to 48000 Hz (e.g. with TMPEGEnc, I think demuxing and audio encoding also works after the MPEG2-trial period has expired). After that you either patch the first header of your video-stream to the resolution of 352x480/576 and then author your DVD either with the elementary streams (if your authoring program is capable to do this or you remux the streams back togethe first.
IfoEdit and DVDMaker from Vitec-Multimedia (www.vitecmm.com) are capable to directly authoring a DVD with an 480x480/576 video elementary stream and the 48000 Hz audio stream.

On my DVD-Player, a Winbond-firmware-player (with blue setup screen with swimming dolphins), these non standard DVDs play fine and I also have found out in a video shop that more than 50% of all tested DVD-player were also capable to play these DVDs.

I am doing this as many DVB-recordings are tranmitted in this video format and reencoding is a hassle and usually a loss in quality.

"dvd-svcd" = is what schmendrick explains...click on my link in my last post for some more dvd-svcd methods. You can also check our dvd player list for dvd-svcd compatibility...be sure to read the user comments also...not every user report is correct.
