I'm having major issues converting 2 xvid files with TMPG after going on a nice first 10 runs of everything working fine.

The files are both XVid files.. both are part 1 of large 2 part movies. All four total files work fine on all my media players.

    The problem is..

When I try to convert them to mpegs in TMPG one gets about 35% done every time and crashes with a "encounted problem and needs to close" error, the other does this earlier.

I've tried the following: Scanning for errors with VirtualDub and various other programs...extracting the audio and using it as a wav *same thing still happens* using AviFix *made video go crazy*, cutting out about 500 frames before AND after the frame it always crashes at *still crashed in that area*

I'm new to this, but I've been following tutorials like mad trying to solve this and am out of ideas... heres the specs on the files...

    624x336
    bit rate: 448
    data rate: 151kbps
    video sample size 24bit
    compressor: xvid

Any help would be great! Getting very frustrated!

Just try frameserving it to your encoder. It's an easy workaround to getting around bad frames. Use AVISynth, or VirtualDub.

Sure isn't... 1 is 1 half of Pianist, the other is 1 half of Bowling for Columbine. I'm totally stumped. I'll try frame serving it tonight. Thanks!
