  1. I get a very short period, usually about 5 seconds, of video where the video and audio are not in sync. In a 1-1/2 hour movie it only happened about three times, did not even bother me or the other viewer, but I was just curious maybe what had happened. Any help would be appreciated.

    Possible problems:

Bad frames from the source file.
    Bad media.
    Too fast a burn speed.
Too high a bitrate for your player.
    Scratches or dirty media.
    Crappy DVD player.

And I'm sure there could be a lot more.......

  3. so, the audio was only outta sync for that short period of time or did the rest of the movie get outta sync too?

also, have you tried playing it in your computer and see if it's outta sync then?

  4. No, just a few very brief periods of time. After reading one of your posts in one of my threads poopyhead, I will try burning at 4X instead of 8X...I burned the mentioned movies in 8X, so next time I will 4X and see if it makes a difference. Plus I am using kinda' crappy discs, but I got quite a deal on them. Anyway, you guys/girls are great. That is the only way to learn though is ask people who know their stuff. Peace...and thanks again...

  5. I have Pinnacle Moviebox USB and Leadtek WinfastTV 2000XP. They both capture MPEG 2 in VBR and are a bitch to keep in sync during authoring. Ulead Video Studio 6 for example seems to get the job done by every once in a while dropping a few frames (video, I think) so the audio can catch up. Your deal might be something like that, or not. For whatever it's worth. .... harrymj3

a great way to reduce the possible causes is to test your disc in the computer...if there is no audio problem when playing in your computer, the possible problems becomes smaller. you need to do that first. then, tell me the result and i can take some guesses.

otherwise, cheap media does not necessarily mean sucky quality. i've had very cheap, generic media give me no playback problems while "made in japan" taiyo udens did...so, cheap media is most likely not the problem.

for the most part, ZippyP. is righ ton the money with possible causes of the problem..but again, test it out in your computer first and post the result.
