I currently have 4 broken apex 660 players in my attic. The problem is with all of them that the power light flashes real fast, and I get no digital display. I consider myself pretty technically sauvy, so I figured I would try to take the cd drives out of these units and swap em out for eachother. I figured why bother trying to remount the drives, so I had an extended IDE cable and power cord coming out from the apex unit, so I could test the swapped drive with the unit. I plugged in the RAITE cd drive and all of a sudden POP! it started smoking. I quickly unplugged this, but my question is: what good are 4 broken apex 660's and where do I go from here?
I understand you can put in a computers DVD drive..but how does that mount????
