    Wow, i am shocked
I copyed some of my favorite postings/replies

    .mov to VCD??

"it will convert (wait 15 hours) and burn, no other mac solution is that easy nor faster."

    SVCD Possible on Mac??

“currently impossible but only because of lack of software
maybe possible with MacFlask when it will be ready”

Amazing to see where we are today, you are right!

Also interesting to note, notice how its now dvdrhelp.com and no longer vcdhelp.com

Yep, I always did say that the SVCD types were simply wasting their time. I told my friends last year to give it another year and DVD would take right over. Right on the money...

I didn't think I'd see this website's name change so soon though... :P

im going to have to disagree with you, while i do enjoy the ability to burn dvd-r's i also burn svcds almost daily.. i dont forsee the format (or even svcd) going out of use for a LONG time. just because dvd-r's are cheap and dvd burners are comming down in price as well doesnt mean everyone has them, or that everyone will have them soon. The one format i would personally not mind seeing phased out is divx.. at least the small unbelievably bad quality of 700-800 meg divx rips.. i really dont know how people tolerate quality that terrible.... on the note of software really comming to on OS X i agree its gotten a lot better.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn outside the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind. Withering my intuition leaving all these opportunities behind.

YIKES! i guess im an SVCD type. I think they hold thier ground, especially for those who dont have a dvd-rw drive! Its a future purchase yes but another $250ish is hard to do especially after dropping close to 2grand on my machine (I opted to have the superdrive taken out and just have the combo dirve because it dropped the price of my computer by $200 dollars and i figured i could get one on my own for less. Boy was i wrong!

I am definately with you on the DVD thing becoming the next greatest thing since sliced bread, but i have to say SVCD is still up there

I don't think I wanna look back at all my old posts. I still remember giving advice on vcd creation under OS 9. I remember telling people that making a SVCD under OS 9 was basically impossible. I remember all the steps it once took to make an in sync vcd. I remember the 2 days of work it took to make a vcd. I remember when the only guide you could find for the mac was so hard to follow that I finally just wrote my own....I'm still not sure if anyone ever used them, but maybe it helped one or two people.

Yeah, I know exactly where you SVCD types are coming from. It was just a mild flame, in the spirit of this thread.

Anyways, the reason I never got into it was because of the fact that SVCD has never had even close to the same level of acceptance of VCD or DVD, for standalone player playback. I don't use Divx either, for the same reason.

But then again, I'm more of a standalone player kind of guy, and don't like using a computer for video playback...
