  1. Does anyone know how you transfer movies from a PC to the DVDR890 via the i-link?

Do you need any software to transfer the data across and what format does it accept (AVI or MPEG)?

  3. Answering my own question, you need a program that will save to DV tape.

    Here are my findings.....

DVIO is totally useless. Just hangs.

Premiere 6.5 doesn't work, though in theory it should. Seems to try, but screen goes blank & does other funnies.

Windows XP moviemaker 2 half works. It sends it in bursts, with blank gaps in between.

Vegas 4 works OK. However, I don't know how stable it is.. I've not tried it with a large movie, yet. Vegas 3 always used to hang, when rendering MPEG 2.

  4. Hi,

Have you tried transfering your own recorded footage from DV camera (after editing etc...) fromn the PC to the 890 to burn on DVD with menu/chapters?

    Thanks in advance

  5. I have used ulead Videostudio to save back to my camcorder and just play that hooked up to the Philips DVDR via a 4-4 firewire cable.... 1st disk burned ok, then I "finished" it and it plays in my Sony PS2, but 2nd one trashed (data error or some blah) so expensive process!!!! (using TDK +R).... dunno whether its the recorder or the disk at fault yet....

You could just record direct from camcorder and do some pretty basic stop/start editing fairly easily...
