Before my last format and clean install, I was able,
with the installation of a codec, to play SVCD CD's
within Windows Media Player. Now, I can't seem to
find the codec I was using. I've come across a few
that'll play mpeg2 files, but not the actual CD's.

Does anyone out there have one?

    TIA
    Why doesn't this work?

    Hi,

try to install a new MPEG-2 decoder, like the elecard (see link below). It allows you to play MPEG-2 (DVD-.vob's too!) in WMPlayer.

Thanks Mirko for the link. I'll give it a try!

  4. does Elecard still have that funny 3x3 box in the top-right corner of the video for "un-registered" copies of their codec? if so, i reccomend Power DVD.

Yes, the Elecard still have the funny 3x3-box (it doesn't really annoys, I think). But for PowerDVD you have to pay (so do the most people, I heard); and the question going about playing MPEG-2 in WMP.

    Regards, Mirko.
