Not correct. It is difficult, however it's very possible to do that.

I also have had several (funny-clips and stuff) I wanted to convert to AVI and then to anything.

The problem with Realvideo is that it is a streaming format without a constant framerate. The trick for any program trying to do the conversion is to do "grabs" of frames and achieve a constant framerate output.

Tinra (and TinraGUI) are the best programs I used for Real Video to AVI. ASFTools v.3.1 are the best programs to convert ASF and WMV to avi.

The only catch is that for Realvideo to AVI you need to have a fast machine (so that no frames are dropped and you don't loose sync). I've never had any problems with a P4/1.8+ and also made good conversions on a P3/800 provided Tinra was reading the RM file from one drive and was writing to another. Also, NO OTHER PROGRAM MUST BE RUNNING while you do the conversion if you don't have a very fast CPU.

The tools above convert to AVI (I used DivX as the AVI encoder with a constant quality of 2). From there you can do what you want.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

You can use the program EO-VIDEO to convert from REAL to MPEG. It comes as a demo, and does not add watermarks. Just finish your project within 20 days.

Then convert your WMV to MPEG in TMPGenc. (May need to rename to ASF if it will not open, that's reported to help that error.)

Use TMPGenc to join the two MPEG files. (Be sure both encoders matched MPEG specs, else you'll need to transcode the EO-VIDEO-made file.)

    Viola! New MPEG.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.
