  1. Hello I purchased a Pinnacle PCTV Rave card on wednesday, but am yet to get it to work on my machine (OS win me..see profile for more)

Anyone have this card ? I'd love to know how they got it working.
After running the Btwincap installer I get picture tuned in an app called ChrisTV but not in AMCAp..neither app gives me SOUND with the picture.
This has gotten a bit frustrating and I'm considering on taking the card back to where I purchased it from.

Oh and the Pinnacle drivers do work poorly if I use their own software...but if I try to tune a channel in Virtual Dub...no chance in hell.. b/w pic is the best I get there.

I know nothing about this card but here's a quote from http://www.tv-cards.com/pctvrave.php

The PCTV rave is my favourite of the new PCTV range. The hardware works well and although basic, is of solid construction. Buy the card and ditch the software. Get your after-sales support here. For £30 you really can't go wrong.

I'd take him up on his offer. Good luck

  3. Ahem..I already have the card. And it just won't work.

The picture quality is horrid. Full of interlace lines. My old card
(Ati isa tuner) looks way better with the same antenna cable on
my 486. I'm taking this Pinnacle Rave back to the store
first thing on tuesday...they can shove it up their...place
And they better give me my money back

Stay away from this card is my advice.

    I'll try Hauppauge next.

  4. If you are using a 486 machine, that is your first problem. You need more horsepower to capture at a reasonable resolution unless you are using a capture card with hardware based encoding and none of the ones you mention are hardware based.

  5. Oops. I read your post but did not catch that must have been a older computer you referenced.

  6. If you look into my profile you might notice I exactly don't have a 486 in use nor have I mentioned that I capture with one (that would be rather silly..also buying a rave pci for a 486 would be ludacrious). I was merely stating the image of Rave is worse than the one of the ISa card on my old 486.

My machine is 1,7 ghz and certainly not the cause of any problems caused by a bad product by a company called Pinnacle.
