  1. While watching a ripped version of South Park BL&U, I noticed that there seemed to be a lot more macro blocking than when I originally burned it, this is also true of other VCDs I've created. The VCDs I play most are the ones that seem to be gradually degrading, I can only conclude that my stand alone player (Pioneer 343) is causing this. The CDRs I use are 80min Traxdata silver. Anyone else heard of this happening?

  2. make sure your discs aren't scratched/smudged

get some good movie projector lens cleaner to clean them up if that's the case
(seriously, lens cleaner designed for movie projectors...comes with this really faint-touch cloth and does wonders to clean discs)

that's my best thought anyways. that's been my experience with pixellation, it's the disc surface, not the files.

  4. What type of CD's are you using? I had an experience similar to this with a VCD i made full of trailers. After about a week it seemed to have more and more macroblocks. In the end i traced it back to crappy cd's. The ones I used were really cheap and shoddy. I havent had this problem since changing to a better media.

  6. The problem sounds more like the media. If you use "cheap" media, you know, a 100 discs for $19.95, the thickness of the coating on the recording layer probably doesn't under go the same quality control name brands do and if the not if you can record at all the data may not be as stable. Of course as others said, keep the discs dust and smudge free as possible.
