  1. I want to copy all of the episodes of simpsons from my dvd's to vcd to store on my multimedia machine. I have DVD2SVCD with the CCE encoder and need to know how to setup DVD2SVCD for multipass VCD. I have ripped many svcds flawlessly with it, but can't get VCD's to work. Anybody have experience or suggestions for other programs that still use CCE.

  2. Multipass VCD? This suggests you are trying to use VBR(variable bit rate) when making VCDs. A lot of players wont play these. If you want to make a VCD then stick to the standard constant bit-rate (1150). CCE is BAD at making VCDs, I suggest Tmpgenc (works fine with DVD2SVCD), its free if you just want to make VCDs (but time-limited for MPEG2/SVCD/DVD, you have to buy it). There's an INI file for VCD in the Program Files/DVD2SVCD folder, select MISC/LOAD SETTINGS and load it up, but change the audio to 224 kbps...

  3. Yeah, thats what I have been thinking, but I just don't understand how some copies of newer Simpsons episodes look a lot better than the ones straight off the dvd and are also the same size. So, I was just wondering if there there are any settings in TMPGENC that need to be tweaked to get optimal performance. Thanks for the quick reply.

  4. Okay, this sucks. I just downloaded the last episode of the Simpsons that has obviously been captured with a tv card and converted and it looks better than what TMPGENC produced from a DVD. Anything else that people use for VCD's?

  5. List the settings you are using with Tmpgenc, anything you have changed from default.
