According to GSpot, I've got all the necessary codecs
to play this .avi movie. But for some reason WMP has
the movie at 9:01:16, and I get audio but no video.
I haven't tried running it thru VirturalDub or TMPGEnc
for encoding purposes. Wanted to check with you guys
beforehand.
What do we have here?
TIA

Is it only windows media which is giving you these problems ?, can you play your file in any other program ?.

It wouldn't play here either, but it did give me an error message:

The file contains the following type of data:
Audio data: Tag 353
You may need to install a new audio codec on your computer to listen to
the audio. You can either stop playback now or watch the video without
the audio.
Did a Google search for the error and got a lot of solutions, which all
required the installation of a codec pack. That's how I got into trouble
before, so I'm trying to avoid that. Maybe a particular audio codec
someone can recommend?

sure your movie isn't xvid and thats why you can't play it? cause you need another codec to play that kind of video.

As a work around why don't you copy and paste your XviD (If that's what it is ) to your desktop and then change the header using 4CC Changer

See if this plays, If it does then you prolly need to sort your codecs out. -
Someone told me about the Tsunami audio codec.
Picked it up, installed, and it worked like a charm. Why doesn't this work?
