Picky TV doesnt work with some HDMI cables?

That's what I said. I am leaning toward to $13.98 one. But that one is thicker with 28AWG vs the more expensive $21.42 one which is 36AWG. I guess you pay for thinner cables?

With cables the more trademarks and middle men in between the more you will waste money.

You're paying for the electronics within the cable connectors. Those electronics allow you to have thinner cables -- in situations where thinner cables are desired.

Since you're running from a PC you're likely going to be running at 1080p60 RGB. Be on the safe side and get the $14 cables rather than the cheaper ones.

By the way Monoprice does have deals when it comes to 27+ QHD and UHD monitors.

If you know of a US online store selling 15 foot 36AWG Redmere HDMI cables for a significantly lower price, please feel free to share. '

Just an observation, but (I have not checked hdmi cables), on my computer certain "ie, usb cables of all types without a shielded ground connecting the bare metal on both ends" do not work for me. At all. Could this be the case with cheepo hdmi cables? I have never had problems with hdmi cables, even cheepo's.

What is interesting is that some HDMI cables will not work with laptop but will work with blu ray players. So I assume it is something to do with the connection of the cable and the laptop. Even when I turn it around, it does not work. They vary in length from 6 feet to 15 feet.

I have one HDMI cable that works with everything but its a shorter 10 feet cable.

I was going to tell you that it looks like the laptop is the problem, but it appears you have already reached that conclusion. If you buy a new HDMI cable and that cable happens to work with the laptop, it will be the luck of the draw.

If there is a way to fix a bad HDMI port on a laptop at home, I have not seen it discussed here. I'm not sure a repair shop would attempt to fix something like that either.
