I have had alot of trouble demuxing dvb mpeg2 files. I've tried numerous programs but get audio/video synch problems with most. Even tried PVAStrumento and didn't have much luck. I've read about the ProjectX program that alot of people say works quite well but can't for the life of me figure out how to make it usable. I've downloaded numerous versions but the instructions to compile are not very clear for me. I've read the guide on Doom but that mainly details using the program once installed. I even downloaded the compled version from OoZooN and that doesn't seem any better for me. I didn't think I was that computer stupid, but could really use some easier ENGLISH instructions on how to compile and get the program from unzipped form to usable?????

Also I have downloaded and installed j2re1.4.2_05. Do I also need the Java SDK or is what I have enough??

Really would appreciate any and all assistance trying to get this program up and running.

    Also I have WinXP SP-1!!

What a coincidence, I only started fiddling with ProjectX today. Not easy to get it working - you are right about that.

The easiest thing to do is run the .jar compiled version of the software, available at http://www.px-info.de/progs/projectx/ProjectX-v0.82.01.01-20050418.zip
That's the Oozoon version I downloaded and was able to make run.

As long as you have Java JRE installed, just double click on the ProjectX.jar file located in the .zip. The Java SDK is NOT required.

Yep, I've got Java Version 1.4.2_06 (build 1.4.2_06-b03) and I too just downloaded that zip file, extracted everything to a directory and then double-clicked on the .jar file:

    If in doubt, Google it.

    Hey guys,
Everything worked as advertised! Downloaded the .jar version and updated my Java RE and I finally have a working ProjectX!! That build.bat thingy was driving me nuts. Haven't used the program yet but just getting it running was most of the battle!!

I was even able to create an .exe compiled version of ProjectX using Excelsior Jet, a Java compiler. Unfortunately, it is 25MB in size with all of the support files. Still, I didn't have to install JRE, which I think is the only drawback of this otherwise excellent util. It did a great job on some corrupted transport stream files I've been trying to fix for ages.

  7. I installed a compiled .exe version of ProjectX a while ago, and now when I went to try it, it didn't work. When I tried to re-install, I got a message that the trial installation had expired!??! Could someone share a link to a compiled version with no trial limitations, please?

I *think* that means you have to buy it

    From the site:

    ProjectX.EXE by OoZooN
    Version 0.82.01 (Exe)

    Project X.exe
    mit Installation Programm

es wird keine extra JRE benötigt
    Geschwindigkeitsoptimiert durch den Jet-Compiler
    with installer
    no extra JRE needed
    speed optimized through jet-compiler
nur für Spender für OoZooN.de verfügbar
only for donators of OoZooN.de available
Spender melden sich bitte für Updates
    donators contact me for updates
The one above that (the compiled JAR) should work fine
    If in doubt, Google it.

Yes, the original compiled version had an expiration, but a new version has been posted that has fixed that problem.
